Disney Plus has started developing a reboot of Darkwing Duck, with actor Mark Hamill voicing the titular superhero in the new animated series.
Development of the project was announced by the streaming platform in an official press release reported by Russian news agency TASS. According to the platform, the new plot centers on the superhero as he teams up with a rebellious teenage girl named Daki, who knows everything about his past, to battle old enemies and reunite with former allies.

Hamill, who takes on the title role of Darkwing Duck, is world-famous for portraying Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars film franchise. Beyond his live-action film career, the veteran American actor has built an extensive body of work as a voice performer, earning acclaim for his long-running portrayal of the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, as well as voicing characters in numerous television shows, animated features, and video games.
The original Darkwing Duck animated series aired from 1991 to 1995. Developed by animator Tad Stones for Walt Disney Television Animation, the show originally premiered as part of the Disney Afternoon syndicated programming block. The series followed the adventures of a masked duck superhero operating out of the fictional city of St. Canard, parodying classic pulp fiction heroes and comic book tropes while blending action comedy with family life.
