Dakota Johnson splits from musician partner Role Model

Actress Dakota Johnson has reportedly split from her partner Role Model after about eight months of dating, according to a source cited by People magazine.

The 36-year-old star of Materialists and the 29-year-old musician, who is seven years younger than her, recently decided to go their separate ways after first being linked late last year.

The former couple were first photographed together having lunch on December 29 in Los Angeles, California. Subsequent sightings in early 2026 fueled romance rumors before the pair were seen embracing in April.

Public romance launch on record

Word of the breakup comes nearly two weeks after Role Model publicly confirmed their relationship through his new album, Chuck Timely & the Hourglass.

On the track Love I You, the musician is heard telling Johnson that he thinks she is perfect. Johnson responds that he says that to everyone, to which the musician asks if his line works. Johnson replies that it does, but tells him not to tell anyone.

Reflections on privacy

Speaking to Rolling Stone on Sunday, Role Model admitted that including the audio exchange on his record was his way of publicly acknowledging their relationship, despite having felt hesitant about doing so initially. He told the publication that he believed keeping such personal matters separate was probably good.

Johnson is an American actress widely known for her leading roles in film, including the Fifty Shades franchise. Role Model, whose real name is Tucker Pillsbury, is an American singer-songwriter who released his latest album earlier this month.
