Cody Walker has stated that artificial intelligence could be used to recreate his late brother Paul Walker for the final Fast and Furious movie, though he has no interest in participating in such a project himself.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Cody Walker explained that while artificial intelligence was not an option when producers completed Furious 7 in 2014, filmmakers now have access to advanced technology and years of unused footage from earlier entries in the franchise. He noted that the production team represents the best in the film industry and could find a way to incorporate Paul Walker if they chose to do so.
However, Cody Walker emphasized that any decision to recreate Paul Walker on screen should belong exclusively to the late actor's daughter, Meadow Walker. He stated that his position is that whatever Meadow wants to see done is what matters, as Paul was her father.
Cody Walker added that he personally liked how the character of Brian O'Conner departed from the franchise. He noted that filmmakers did not kill off the character or create a cheesy exit, describing Brian's off-screen life raising his children as a beautiful resolution. He added that if producers and Meadow Walker decide to move forward with an AI return, they would not require assistance from him or his brother Caleb Walker.
Stand-in Work on Furious 7
Following Paul Walker's death in an automobile accident in 2013, Cody and Caleb Walker stepped in as body doubles to help complete filming on Furious 7. Visual effects studios utilized existing footage, facial mapping, and computer-generated imagery combined with the brothers' performances to finish Paul Walker's remaining scenes.
Cody Walker noted that he does not know whether the upcoming final film, titled Fast Forever, will ultimately feature a final scene involving his brother. He stated that he has no idea what to expect regarding the direction of the final chapter.
Discussions With Vin Diesel
Addressing discussions about the franchise, Cody Walker said he had spoken with franchise lead Vin Diesel about the production process. He described Diesel as an incredible and talented actor who takes the responsibility very seriously, adding that Diesel becomes deeply emotional and philosophical while carrying a heavy burden to ensure the final film is as strong as possible.
Meadow Walker has maintained close ties with the franchise and her father's former co-stars. In May 2026, she shared an emotional embrace with Vin Diesel during a screening marking the 25th anniversary of Fast and Furious, following a public tribute in December 2025 marking 12 years since her father's passing when she expressed her enduring love for him.
