Former La Bella Luz singer Claudia Salazar presented WhatsApp chats on América hoy showing alleged harassment by former group director César Sánchez Chavesta. The 50-year-old musician was recently removed from the Chiclayo cumbia orchestra following a separate complaint of improper touching filed by singer Naldy Saldaña.
Salazar, who left La Bella Luz in early 2025 and now sings for Papillón, spent nearly a year in the orchestra alongside Saldaña and Sánchez Chavesta. She released the text message screenshots to demonstrate the stalking and harassment she said she experienced during provincial concert tours.

WhatsApp messages during orchestra tours
The released messages show Sánchez Chavesta repeatedly asking Salazar to meet him alone during night trips outside work hours. In one exchange, he asked if she was coming, stated he was waiting for her, and urged her to go out with him alone.
In another message, he instructed Salazar to take a motorcycle taxi to the main square to meet him and several friends. He told her to relax rather than remaining inside her hotel room.

Salazar declined the invitations, explaining in the chats that she would not go out alone and would wait for Saldaña instead. Sánchez Chavesta responded by urging her to come anyway, adding that he did not like Saldaña.
When Salazar maintained her refusal, the former music director continued to press her. He argued that Saldaña had gone out alone without issue, telling Salazar to take a motorcycle to the square and promising that she would be with him and nothing would happen.

Reactions to rejected invitations
After Salazar refused to meet him alone, Sánchez Chavesta reproached her for standing him up. He told her in the messages that she was no longer his friend and instructed her not to talk to him, look at him, or smile at him.
Salazar attempted to handle the situation with humor by sending him a music video, noting that he had previously asked her to share music. Additional chat screenshots revealed that Sánchez Chavesta repeatedly insisted on taking her to a karaoke venue alone and became angry when she said no.
