Peruvian actor Christian Meier revealed on the Zaca TV podcast 'Somos los que somos' that he has secretly created viral internet memes for more than ten years.
The 56-year-old performer told the show's presenters during its 100th episode that he published the graphics anonymously under a pseudonym, with several of his creations spreading globally across social media.
Meier recalled that his interest in making memes began around 2012 or 2013, when online graphics were experiencing a boom. He said he started producing memes using an application called Meme Factor before releasing them onto the internet.
Speaking on the program, Meier explained that memorable memes created by him continue to circulate worldwide. He declined to reveal which specific images belong to his portfolio, keeping his exact creations secret from the show's young hosts.
Anonymous creation
The actor noted that while browsing the internet, he still occasionally encounters viral memes he created a decade ago. He described smiling when recognizing his work and taking quiet satisfaction in seeing it online.
Meier stated that he has no interest in being recognized as the creator of those viral images. He explained that simply knowing a meme is his own work is enough, reaffirming his desire to keep his identity hidden from the public.
Background and career
Meier is a prominent figure in Latin American television and music. He built a long career as a soap opera star, playing lead roles in major productions including the title character in Zorro: La Espada y la Rosa, and achieved musical success with hits such as Carreteras mojadas after starting out with the Peruvian rock group Arena Hash.
His appearance on 'Somos los que somos' marked his first time as a guest on a podcast. The digital program features a panel of young presenters, including his daughter Gia Meier.
