Peruvian actor Christian Meier revealed during a special appearance on the streaming channel Zaca TV that his daughter Gia did not acknowledge him as her father during the first years of her life.
Speaking on the show Somos lo que somos to mark Zaca TV's 100th episode, Meier explained that his daughter only realized who he was around the age of ten after years of avoiding conversation with him.
Meier recalled that during Gia's first seven or eight years, she never spoke to him, greeted him, or looked at him. He noted that as a young child she preferred to spend all her time with her nanny and her siblings rather than interacting with him.
He recounted the moment she finally addressed him as an older child, putting her hand on him and saying she had just realized he was her father. Meier said he told her that he had been her father for eight years, adding that prior to that moment she had simply wondered who the man living in her house was.
Reconciliation and present relationship
Despite their distant early years, Meier said that Gia later became very affectionate and close to him. He acknowledged that while he maintains a close relationship with all three of his children with actress Marisol Aguirre, he shares a special and unique connection with Gia that cannot be described.
Gia, who is now 23 years old, works as a producer for Zaca TV and has built a public presence as an influencer. Over time, her initial detachment evolved into a close bond with her father that Meier considers distinct from his other family relationships.
