Retired police general César Alberto Jordán Brignole has been appointed deputy minister of internal order in Peru's Ministry of the Interior.
The Peruvian executive branch officialized the appointment through a supreme resolution published in the official gazette El Peruano on August 11, 2026. The decree bears the signatures of President Keiko Fujimori and Minister of the Interior César Astudillo Salcedo.
Jordán assumes the post following the acceptance of Juan Olivera García's resignation from the position.
Following the public announcement, Jordán expressed gratitude for his appointment on social media. He stated that he will work alongside the National Police of Peru and the Armed Forces to combat crime, focusing specifically on tackling organized crime, extortion, and drug trafficking.
Political career and party affiliations
According to Peru's Register of Political Organizations, Jordán has been registered as an affiliated member of the conservative Renovación Popular party since July 11, 2024. He ran for election to the Senate of the Republic on the party's list during the 2026 general elections.
Jordán occupied candidate spot number 23 on the single national district list for Renovación Popular, though he did not win a Senate seat.
Official records show he was previously affiliated with the Alianza para el Progreso party from September 2020 until his resignation in June 2021. He did not hold executive leadership posts or represent district or provincial committees in either political organization.
Public administration and police background
In public administration, Jordán served as a municipal advisor on citizen security issues for the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima during the administration of Mayor Rafael López Aliaga.
His official sworn declaration of interest also lists prior service as manager of citizen security for the Comas District Municipality in northern Lima.
Academic and professional qualifications
Jordán holds a bachelor's degree and a licentiate degree in industrial relations from the Universidad de San Martín de Porres, completed in 2004.
He earned a licentiate degree in 2011 and a bachelor's degree in 2012 in administration and police sciences from the Officers School of the National Police of Peru.
In 2022, he completed a master's degree in administration and public management, with a specialization in national defense, at the Center for Higher National Studies.
