Casio has unveiled the G-Shock Frogman GWF-D1000BC-1JF, a new model in its professional Master of G: Sea diving lineup and the first update to the flagship Frogman platform since 2019. Sales begin in Japan in September at 198,000 yen, roughly $1,290, though Casio has not yet announced a global release.
Casio's G-Shock line has built its reputation since the 1980s on rugged, shock-resistant construction aimed at extreme environments, and the Frogman series has long served as the brand's dedicated professional diving watch within that lineup.
Design and build
The GWF-D1000BC-1JF keeps the Frogman's signature bulky case but adopts a more tactical look, finished mainly in black. The biggest change is a new composite band that replaces the previous strap's carbon fiber insert. It combines H-shaped metal links with biopolymer resin elements, offering fine adjustment and a two-step extension so the watch can be worn over a wetsuit. The watch weighs a substantial 181 grams, with case dimensions of 59.2 by 53.3 by 18 millimeters.
Diving features
The watch is ISO certified for diving and rated to withstand depths of up to 200 meters. Its display is protected by sapphire glass with an anti-reflective coating. A Triple Sensor system provides an electronic compass, thermometer and depth gauge, measuring depth to 80 meters in increments of 0.1 meters. The watch can automatically start and stop dive logging when it crosses the 1.5 meter mark, and it stores data for 20 dives in memory.
Battery life and other functions
Power comes from Casio's Tough Solar system, rated for about seven months of use under normal conditions and up to 23 months in power-saving mode. The time updates automatically via the Multi-Band 6 radio signal, though the watch does not include Bluetooth. It also displays tide graphs and moon phase data, along with world time for 48 cities across 31 time zones. Additional functions include a stopwatch, timer, five alarms and Casio's automatic Super Illuminator backlight.
