Casados à Primeira Vista Tops Portugal's TV Charts

The July 14 episode of "Casados à Primeira Vista" (Married at First Sight), broadcast by Portuguese channel SIC, was the most watched time-shifted television programme in Portugal last month, according to an analysis by audience research firm Marktest based on official Mediamonitor data.

The episode was watched by more than 161,900 viewers in addition to those who tuned in during the original live broadcast.

Two segments of the show's finale, broadcast on July 26, took second and third place in the same-day rankings, adding 147,100 and 137,000 viewers respectively to their live audiences.

"Casados à Primeira Vista" is the Portuguese adaptation of the Married at First Sight format, in which strangers agree to marry without having met beforehand. The Portuguese version is presented by television host Diana Chaves and airs on SIC, one of the country's main private broadcasters.

Seven-day viewing figures

In the seven-day ranking, which measures viewing over a longer window, the Chaves-fronted show again claimed the top two positions. It was followed by the July 24 episode of the telenovela "Páginas da Vida," also broadcast by SIC.

The only non-SIC programme to appear in the seven-day top 10 was "A Porquinha Peppa" (Peppa Pig), a children's animated series shown on Canal Panda. It ranked eighth, with an audience of more than 102,600 people beyond its original transmission.

World Cup ratings on RTP1

Live viewing told a different story. The round of 16 match between Portugal and Spain at the 2026 World Cup, which eliminated the Portuguese national team from the competition, was the most watched programme of July on RTP1, drawing close to 3.8 million viewers, according to data from GfK.

The World Cup dominated the rest of the podium as well. The final between Spain and Argentina came second with almost 2.8 million viewers, while Portugal's earlier match against Croatia placed third with 2.4 million viewers.

RTP1 is the flagship channel of Rádio e Televisão de Portugal, the country's public broadcaster, and typically carries live coverage of major international football tournaments.
