More than 120,000 people joined a virtual queue on Tuesday to secure newly released tickets for two BTS concerts in Bogotá, Colombia this week.
The surge in online traffic occurred on the ticketing platform Ticketmaster as fans sought a final opportunity to attend the South Korean group's upcoming shows in the capital city. Virtual queue systems are routinely deployed by ticket sellers during major event releases to stagger web traffic and prevent server outages.
The newly available passes were released after concert organizers finalized stage setup details, camera positions, and technical equipment requirements for the production. Additional tickets were also put back on sale following the cancellation of earlier purchases that breached the platform's terms and conditions.
Releasing retained tickets is a standard operational procedure for major live music events. Once production crews confirm the exact layout of the stage, sound towers, and lighting rigs, organizers assess seat visibility across different venue sectors and release technical reservations for public purchase.
Although the digital waiting room attracted more than 120,000 hopeful buyers, the number of tickets actually offered was considerably smaller. Ticketmaster maintained the same pricing structure established during the initial ticket release, while keeping in place a strict limit of four tickets per buyer for each concert date.
Growing K-pop presence in Colombia
The intense demand for the upcoming Bogotá shows comes amid the broader growth of South Korean culture across Colombia. K-pop has transitioned from a niche interest in the capital into an established cultural fixture, spawning vibrant fan communities, dedicated public events, and specialized commercial spaces across the city.
BTS, also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a globally celebrated South Korean music group formed by Big Hit Entertainment. Since debuting in 2013, the group has led the global expansion of Korean popular culture, becoming one of the best-selling musical acts in modern history.
Return to live performance
BTS will perform in Bogotá on Friday, October 2 and Saturday, October 3 as part of the group's Arirang world tour. The concerts represent a major milestone for the band as it returns to live performance following a temporary hiatus during which the group's members completed their mandatory South Korean military service.
