American actor Brad Pitt greeted hundreds of fans outside the Maria Cristina hotel on Sunday upon arriving at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain.
Pitt spent half an hour posing for photographs and signing autographs for spectators who had gathered with notebooks and mobile phones under radiant sunshine outside the hotel.
Dressed in a blue jacket, charcoal gray trousers, and neon yellow sneakers, the actor showed warmth to the crowd from the moment he stepped out. Fans, some of whom had waited for hours, reacted with chants of his name and requests for selfies.
Arrival at Hotel Maria Cristina
After spending 30 minutes with his admirers, Pitt greeted festival director Jose Luis Rebordinos. He then blew a kiss to the crowd before entering the building.
The Hotel Maria Cristina, a historic luxury hotel in the coastal city of San Sebastian, traditionally accommodates international stars attending the annual festival. The San Sebastian International Film Festival is Spain's most prominent film showcase and one of the oldest in Europe.
Film Presentation Schedule
Pitt is attending the festival to present Heart of the Beast, a new movie directed by David Ayer. The film is programmed in the festival's Official Selection out of competition.
Because the official screening alongside the cast and crew will not take place until Wednesday, the actor has several days available for local sightseeing.
Memories of Previous Visit
Pitt previously visited San Sebastian in 2009. During the final hours of that trip, he visited Chillida Leku, an open-air museum dedicated to Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida.
During his previous visit, the actor took numerous photographs of the artist's works. The family of the late sculptor presented Pitt with three English-language books about his art.
Chillida Leku, located in nearby Hernani, displays monumental iron and stone sculptures across grounds surrounding a restored 16th-century farmhouse. Chillida is celebrated as one of the defining figures of 20th-century Spanish sculpture.
