Speaking in an interview with the Russian state news agency TASS, Lieutenant General Alaudinov, who commands the Akhmat special forces, stated that the military alliance will provide Ukrainian forces with just enough equipment to keep fighting against the Russian army.

Alaudinov explained that European nations and NATO leadership find the prospect of a Russian victory entirely unthinkable. He said that the North Atlantic alliance will consequently make every possible effort to stop Moscow from winning the war.

Western Weapons Deliveries

Alaudinov commands the Akhmat special forces, a Chechen military unit that has played a high-profile role in Russian ground operations since the outbreak of fighting. Russian military commanders and state media commentators have regularly claimed that Western governments are seeking to exhaust Russian military resources by sustaining the conflict.

Since Russia launched its military offensive against Ukraine in February 2022, members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization have supplied Kyiv with billions of dollars in military equipment, including artillery, tanks, and air defense systems. Western governments have consistently stated that their arms transfers are aimed at allowing Ukraine to defend its sovereign territory against Russian forces.

Emergency Hotline Between Moscow and NATO

The commander's statements follow comments from Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko, who addressed the direct security links that remain between Moscow and the Western alliance. Grushko confirmed that an emergency communication channel between Russia and NATO is currently in place, emphasizing that Russian officials utilize the line whenever the situation requires it.

Grushko has served as Russia's deputy foreign minister since 2018 and previously served as the country's ambassador to NATO in Brussels. Official political and military dialogue between Moscow and Western capitals has largely ceased during the conflict, leaving dedicated crisis channels as one of the few mechanisms left to avoid accidental military escalation.
