Apple has unveiled its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, launching a book-style dual-screen device that goes on sale on October 23.

The California technology company announced the handset in a video presentation published on its official website. The smartphone adopts a book-style folding design that visually resembles the previous year's iPhone Air model. It features two displays: a 5.4-inch outer screen and a 7.6-inch inner folding screen, with both displays featuring an aspect ratio of 1 to 1.4.

Apple Inc. is a global consumer electronics corporation headquartered in Cupertino, California, best known for manufacturing smartphones, personal computers, and tablet devices. Foldable smartphones feature flexible screens and specialized hinge mechanisms, allowing users to collapse a larger tablet-sized display into a compact mobile handset format.

Hardware specifications and pricing

The iPhone Duo is powered by Apple's new A20 Pro processor and includes a dedicated C2 cellular modem. The smartphone will be manufactured exclusively with digital eSIM technology, omitting a traditional physical SIM card tray.

Apple designs its custom A-series silicon processors to integrate central processing unit cores, graphics rendering engines, and dedicated machine learning acceleration on a single chip. An embedded SIM, or eSIM, allows users to activate cellular network plans digitally without inserting a physical SIM card.

According to the company, the device's battery delivers enough power for a full day of standard use, or up to 44 hours of continuous video playback when viewing content on the external screen.

Sales for the iPhone Duo begin on October 23, with the base 256-gigabyte model priced at $2,000. Internal storage capacity of 256 gigabytes serves as the baseline entry level for storing applications, operating system software, high-resolution media, and personal files.

Flagship iPhone 18 lineup

Prior to the iPhone Duo reveal, Apple presented the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Both new smartphones retain a physical design identical to the previous year's models, but carry higher starting prices.

The base version of the iPhone 18 Pro is priced at $1,200, while the entry-level iPhone 18 Pro Max costs $1,300.

Apple typically reserves its Pro and Pro Max tier for premium flagship handsets equipped with advanced camera modules, upgraded display refresh rates, and higher processing performance intended for demanding users.
