Actors Tewfik Jallab and Ritu Arya have reunited in Africa for Apollo Has Fallen, the high stakes second season of the popular television action series. The new installment moves the espionage drama from France to the African continent, where British Secret Intelligence Service agents risk their lives to stop a mercenary bioweapon plot threatening Europe.
The show serves as a direct extension of the Has Fallen action film franchise created 13 years ago by Scottish actor Gerard Butler. Butler, who starred as Secret Service agent Mike Banning in the hit film trilogy, continues to oversee the expanded television universe as an executive producer.
The television saga launched in 2024 with Paris Has Fallen, an action thriller produced by French television network Canal+ and set in the French capital. The series established 44-year-old Paris born actor Tewfik Jallab as agent Vincent Taleb alongside 37-year-old Guildford born British actress Ritu Arya as agent Zara Taylor. Just over a year after their Paris mission, Taleb and Taylor relocate to Africa for a far more demanding international assignment.
In Apollo Has Fallen, the narrative centers on a plot orchestrated by Voltov, a ruthless Lebanese mercenary organization. To unleash chaos across Europe, the mercenaries bring down an airplane carrying prestigious doctors and scientists to an international medical summit.
The terror attack accomplishes part of its goal when Voltov fighters, led by fearsome commander Yuri Mishkin, played by actor Jacek Koman, capture renowned virologist Rachel Moss, codenamed Apollo. Moss, portrayed by actress Annabel Scholey, is forced into a clandestine laboratory hidden deep in the desert. The mercenaries threaten to murder her family unless she re-engineers the MERS virus into an overwhelming bioweapon capable of wiping out European populations.

In an interview with news outlet El Comercio, both lead actors explained that the escalating scale of the story demanded a major evolution in their physical preparation. Jallab revealed that after completing the first season, the cast recognized that any continuation would require rigorous training, prompting them to increase their exercise routines and adopt healthier diets.
Arya told the newspaper that the second season feels significantly more ambitious in scope, featuring larger action sequences, more intense physical stunts, and a stronger focus on character development. She added that filming in impressive real world locations made the demanding shoot an incredible experience for the entire team.
The dynamic between Taleb and Taylor develops without any romantic involvement between the lead agents. Taleb is portrayed as a muscular lead with traditional qualities, while Taylor is a fast reflexed lesbian operative who avoids romantic commitments to keep her professional focus. The show demonstrates that fast paced action stories do not require romantic subplots between their main characters.
Their screen chemistry is established in the opening scene of season two, where Taylor interrupts Taleb as he hits a heavy boxing bag during his free time. When Taylor asks why he is striking the bag with such force, Taleb quips that the bag disparaged his masculinity, prompting Taylor to joke that maintaining masculinity is not particularly difficult.

Jallab highlighted the global nature of the production, emphasizing that the cast and crew were drawn from countries around the world, including England, Spain, Germany, Poland, Australia, Malta, and Lebanon. He described working with the international team as an extraordinary experience that felt like participating in a massive global theatrical production.
Arya expressed gratitude for collaborating with a talented international cast, praising co-stars such as Charlotte Spencer, Arthur Darvill, Richard Dormer, and Aileen Tezzel. Unable to coordinate their moves through official channels, the agents must rely on a sixth sense to survive and protect Europe.
Jallab confirmed that the franchise has a strong future, revealing that production is already underway on a third season set in South Africa. He expressed great excitement for the upcoming storyline, noting that he and Arya are proud to carry forward the action legacy that Butler popularized over a decade ago.
