British actor Anthony Hopkins has released his first full-length music album, titled Life Is a Dream, at the age of 88. Details of the release emerged through publications on digital streaming services.
The new release comprises 12 original orchestral compositions written by Hopkins over the past six decades. The album was brought to market by classical music record label Decca Classics.

In a statement published on the Decca Classics website, Hopkins stated that music was his initial passion and his lifelong dream. The veteran performer noted that he has been creating music throughout his life, explaining that several of the pieces had remained with him for decades and that he continues to revisit them.
The production of the album included performances by the Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Venezuelan maestro Gustavo Dudamel. The announcement follows earlier statements from the Oscar-winning Hollywood star indicating that he was preparing his debut musical record for public release.
Decades of musical composition
Hopkins has maintained a connection to music since early childhood, having played the piano since he was four years old. During his youth, he regularly performed pieces by classical masters Ludwig van Beethoven and Frédéric Chopin. By his teenage years, he had begun writing original scores for local theatre productions.
Hopkins rose to international prominence through his dramatic acting career, gaining widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the 1991 psychological thriller film The Silence of the Lambs. Over a career spanning several decades, his musical work often remained a private pursuit alongside his acclaimed cinematic roles.
Classical orchestra and record label
The release marks a significant milestone for Decca Classics, a historic British record label known for its catalog of classical music recordings. The project also brings together Hopkins and Gustavo Dudamel, a internationally renowned Venezuelan conductor celebrated for leading prestigious symphonic ensembles worldwide.
