Peruvian model Angie Jibaja has re-emerged after being untraceable, appearing in television footage smoking alongside her boyfriend in a high-crime area of Lima.
The 46-year-old media personality, known in Peru as the tattoo girl, was filmed in the district of La Victoria alongside her Chilean partner, Jonathan, and a group of individuals described by entertainment program Magaly TV: La Firme as people of bad repute.
The broadcast preview marks her first public appearance since going missing after an altercation with a hotel administrator over unpaid rent.
According to promotional footage released by ATV network's Magaly TV: La Firme, Jibaja and her boyfriend were dressed casually as they walked nervously toward a local park.
The broadcast showed the couple meeting with a group of people, talking and laughing. Program producers noted that due to camera angles and image quality, it was not possible to determine what the influencer and her partner were smoking.
Footage released after hotel altercations
A voiceover in the show's teaser clip stated that Jibaja had not changed, alleging that she and her Chilean boyfriend were smoking and spending time with undesirable individuals in a red zone within La Victoria.
The complete footage gathered by the show's investigative team is scheduled to air on Monday, August 17, at 9:45 p.m. on Magaly TV: La Firme.
The television report follows days of uncertainty surrounding Jibaja's whereabouts after an incident at the hotel where she lived with Jonathan. The dispute began when the hotel administrator confronted the model over more than 1,000 Peruvian soles owed for room rent.
The confrontation escalated until local authorities intervened, leading to proceedings at the local police station.
Public response and podcast departure
Following the police incident, Jibaja announced her departure from a podcast she co-hosted alongside producer Giani Cossio. Cossio had publicly expressed concern over her safety after she became unreachable in the aftermath of the hotel scandal.
In a public statement addressing the hotel dispute, Jibaja offered an apology while denying claims that she had physically assaulted the hotel administrator.
Jibaja explained that she never hit the worker and apologized if she had overreacted, stating that she felt harassed by the confrontation. She admitted to throwing a telephone to the ground, but accused the television show of editing the footage with artificial sound effects to make it appear as though a physical punch was landed, adding that she should not have taken the bait.
