Alexander Vasilyev, the former host of the television show Fashion Verdict who has left Russia, said he does not want to discuss the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. A video of him declining to address the topic appeared on the YouTube channel Karina_net.
Vasilyev said Russia and Ukraine had failed to agree on something, and that he would not discuss it because politicians would attack him for it.
Shared culture, different politics
Vasilyev, a fashion historian, said the Russian and Ukrainian peoples share a great deal in terms of culture and history. He noted that the two countries speak similar languages and both follow Orthodox Christianity.
Vasilyev previously responded to accusations that he had fled Russia, saying he had received French citizenship back in the Soviet era. He had also earlier said he had not faced strong criticism from Russians.
