Alan Ritchson, star of Amazon's "Reacher," and his wife Katherine are divorcing after 20 years of marriage, the couple announced in a joint statement.

Alan and Katherine Ritchson revealed their decision on Saturday in a joint Instagram post. They said that after twenty years together, they had decided to end their marriage and to continue on, side by side, in a different way.

The couple said they had essentially grown up together, building a shared life and a family, and that they have three sons.

They said that despite the end of the marriage, nothing could diminish what those years had meant to them, and that they would continue to share love and respect for one another.

Best gift is friendship, couple says
The Ritchsons said their main focus in this new reality is keeping a healthy relationship as a family. They said the best gift they could give each other, and their boys, right now is friendship, understanding and a commitment to being the best parents they can be.

They added that they want to give each other room to grow into the people they are becoming, saying that change is already hard enough without the whole world getting involved.

For that reason, they asked for privacy and understanding as they adjust to this new chapter, adding that the health and happiness of their family remains their top priority.

Divorce filed in December 2025
Although the couple chose to announce the split publicly only now, the process had begun months earlier. According to electronic court records from Williamson County, Tennessee, Ritchson filed for divorce from Katherine in December 2025.
The actor and Katherine married in May 2006. They have three sons: Callum, born in 2012, Ender, born in 2013, and Amory, born in 2015.
How they met
The couple's story began long before their wedding. They met while still in high school, in ballet classes, as Ritchson revealed in a 2022 interview on the "Today" show. He recalled that Katherine used to bring him cookies before his performances, saying that of course he fell in love with her.
Neighbor dispute made headlines
Ritchson, who plays Jack Reacher in Amazon's series based on Lee Child's novels about the former military police investigator, was also in the spotlight last March, when he became involved in an intense altercation with a neighbor, an incident that spread widely on social media.
In July, he spoke in detail for the first time about what happened, on the podcast "Armchair Expert," describing the incident as the most frightening thing he had ever experienced.
