Adobe has launched the mobile version of its Premiere video editing application for Android devices, expanding the software beyond iPhone smartphones more than a year after its initial iOS debut.
The application is available to download free of charge, providing creators with access to primary video editing tools without requiring an upfront software subscription. Users can trim and merge video clips, alter playback speeds, and overlay text onto their projects.
The free version also allows editors to apply visual effects, incorporate background music tracks, and record audio voiceovers directly into video timelines. Additionally, it supports unlimited video exports in 4K resolution without placing promotional watermarks on completed projects.
4K resolution provides high-definition clarity with roughly four times the pixel count of standard high-definition video, requiring significant processing power to render. Software developers often embed digital watermarks into exported media on free tiers to incentivize paid upgrades, making unwatermarked 4K exports notable for a free mobile application.
Paid artificial intelligence tools
While primary editing capabilities are free, generative artificial intelligence features within the application require separate payment. Users must purchase specialized credits to generate sound effects or incorporate AI-created content powered by Adobe Firefly.
Adobe has also placed additional cloud storage behind a paywall, enabling users to purchase extra online storage space for their media assets directly inside the application.
