Acer has launched the Googlebook 14, an entry-level convertible laptop powered by Google Gemini Intelligence that features a 3K OLED touchscreen and aluminum-magnesium chassis.
The notebook arrives as the most affordable option in Google's newly unveiled personal computing portfolio, meeting release deadlines set ahead of the annual Google I/O developer conference in Mountain View, California, for the 2026 academic year.
Google launched the Googlebook ecosystem to compete directly against Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac personal computers, introducing five initial Googlebook models while major manufacturing partners including Dell, Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Lenovo prepare eight additional designs while Google clarifies the future roadmap of its existing Chromebook operating system.

AI features and Googlebook OS
The laptop introduces Googlebook OS, a specialized operating system engineered to optimize Android-based software workflows while offering enhanced versatility for modern personal computing through unified smartphone synchronization.
Users can interact with the machine across multiple input modes, selecting between touchscreen controls, a physical backlit keyboard, a USI digital stylus or voice commands to communicate with integrated Gemini multimodal artificial intelligence models.
The underlying Gemini artificial intelligence model is capable of understanding the surrounding user environment and adapting dynamically to individual needs, allowing productivity and creative tasks to expand without requiring complex technical or computer programming skills.
To streamline multi-device tasks, the operating system includes a continuity feature called Continue On, which enables users to effortlessly resume and synchronize active work sessions between an Android smartphone and the Googlebook laptop.
A second integration technology, named Cast My Apps, allows users to access and run mobile applications installed on their Android smartphone directly on the Googlebook screen without needing to install the software natively on the laptop.
Every Acer Googlebook 14 comes bundled with a free 12-month subscription to the Google AI Pro service, providing users with 5 TB of Google cloud storage along with access to suite tools including Gemini, Flow and Gemini Notebook.

Organic Light-Emitting Diode (OLED) screens utilize self-emissive subpixels to achieve deep contrast ratios and true black tones without requiring a backlight, while Neural Processing Units (NPUs) are specialized semiconductor chips engineered to execute artificial intelligence matrix calculations efficiently.

The laptop utilizes a versatile 360-degree convertible form factor, incorporating heavy-duty dual hinges tested to endure up to 20,000 opening and closing cycles without mechanical degradation.
Its chassis is crafted from a lightweight aluminum-magnesium alloy finished in an Elemental Blue color scheme. The body measures 312 by 222.9 by 13.9 millimeters, weighs 1.14 kilograms, and incorporates Acer Comfort Touch surface treatment.
The hardware meets rigorous US military MIL-STD 810H environmental durability standards, ensuring resistance against physical drops, extreme temperatures, mechanical vibrations and environmental stress.
Input components include a full-size backlit keyboard, a moisture-resistant touch digitiser pad, and a physical power button that integrates a fingerprint reader for biometric user login.
For remote communication and privacy, the top bezel houses a 5-megapixel camera fitted with a physical privacy shutter, while internal security is backed by Google's dedicated Titan C security microchip to safeguard enterprise data and system integrity.
Audio output is delivered through dual Acer Ultra Boost Stereo speakers enhanced by DTS Audio software processing, supported by a triple-microphone array with built-in active noise cancellation technology.
Pricing and market launch
Power is supplied by a 4-cell, 71 Wh lithium-ion battery with fast charging capabilities, providing up to 16 hours of continuous web browsing on a single charge.
Wireless connectivity includes high-speed Intel Wi-Fi 7 R2 BE211 networking and Bluetooth 6.0 Low Energy (LE). Physical expansion ports consist of one Thunderbolt 4 port, two USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports providing 10 Gbps transfer speeds, DisplayPort video output and Power Delivery charging, and a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack.
