A Reddit user going by Serious_Bluebird_613 said she noticed a strange pattern among men she went on dates with over the past month: they kept trying to save money on food.
She wrote that during meetups, the men would claim they were not very hungry, then suggest ordering a few appetizers or splitting one main course. At one date, she said, a prospective boyfriend told her he had actually already eaten before arriving and suggested they just order onion rings or calamari. Another man wanted to split a main course, and when it arrived he told her he had eaten a big lunch, so she should go ahead while he waited.

Discomfort over one-sided meals
The woman said a date where only one person eats feels deeply uncomfortable to her, especially when the other person just sits and watches. She guessed the men were doing it to save money, but her own attempts to pay for her share of the bill also failed, since her dates took offense.
She said she tried to raise the issue with one man, who immediately got defensive and said he did not consider it a real date unless he paid himself. She questioned why someone would invite a person to a restaurant date and then eat dinner at home beforehand.
Another Reddit dating story
The article noted that another Reddit user previously described trying to remove excess body hair before an important date by waxing herself at home to save money on a salon visit, only for her preparations to be ruined by a simple sneeze.
