Vasily Nosov, 70, has been jailed for six years for murdering his partner and throwing her chain-bound body into a pond in Polevskoy, Russia.
The Sverdlovsk Regional Court found Nosov guilty of both murder and fraud, handing down a six-year prison sentence. The pensioner was taken into custody inside the courtroom immediately after the judge pronounced the verdict. The court also ordered Nosov to pay the victim's son 1.5 million rubles in compensation for moral damage and an additional 235,000 rubles for material damage.
Details of the crime emerged during the court proceedings in Sverdlovsk Oblast. The victim had handed Nosov 265,000 rubles to buy a car, but the pensioner embezzled the funds for his own use. When his partner threatened to report his actions to the police, Nosov decided to kill her on July 5, 2012.
To conceal the crime, Nosov wrapped the woman's body in a heavy chain typically used for tethering a dog. He then transported her corpse to Seversky Pond and threw it into the water. Three days after the killing, local fishermen spotted the body in the pond and pulled it out of the water.

The financial orders issued by the court require Nosov to pay a total of more than 1.73 million rubles to the son of the deceased woman. The sum includes 1.5 million rubles intended as financial restitution for moral suffering, alongside 235,000 rubles to reimburse the material loss caused by the stolen vehicle money.
Following the conclusion of the court hearing, officers took Nosov into custody to begin serving his six-year prison term, bringing an end to the judicial process surrounding the 2012 killing at Seversky Pond.
