Greek actor Vasilis Bisbikis has admitted that he is still not certain whether he has found true love after a personal crisis left him broken.
Bisbikis spoke candidly about his emotional struggles during an interview on the video podcast of Greek daily newspaper Efimerida ton Syntakton, with excerpts from the conversation later circulating across social media.

Reflecting on what love means, the actor explained that individuals must first learn to offer love to themselves before they can experience it in essence. He recalled reaching a dark turning point in his life when a desperate craving for outside validation triggered an emotional collapse.
Personal crisis and validation
Bisbikis said he did not know whether he had genuinely found love, explaining that love must be given to oneself and truly received rather than merely felt as an abstract sensation.
He said there was a critical moment in his life when he searched for love with anguish, equating affection with the acceptance of those around him. When that approval failed to arrive, the actor said, he broke down completely.
Support from doctors and therapy
Bisbikis credited professional medical specialists and psychologists with helping him survive the personal crisis and reframe his understanding of self worth.
He explained that with the assistance of doctors and therapists, a metaphorical boil burst and released the pent up infection. The breakthrough allowed his compulsive need for external approval to lift, enabling him to stop seeking validation from other people.
Instead, Bisbikis said, he found a way to grant acceptance to himself. He said that believing in himself allowed him to move forward, adding that he now perceives and feels love with greater depth and awareness.
Stage career and public profile
Bisbikis is one of the most prominent figures in contemporary Greek performing arts, having built an extensive career across theatre, film and television.
In Athens, he earned critical acclaim as a co-founder and director at the Cartel Techne Collective, where he staged raw, intense adaptations of classic drama. He later became a household name across Greece through major television roles, including prominent performances in the period drama Agries Melisses and the crime drama series Sasmos.
His private life has also frequently attracted media attention in Greece, particularly his high profile relationship with Greek pop singer Despina Vandi. His appearance on the Efimerida ton Syntakton video podcast reflects an expanding effort by Greek national newspapers to engage digital audiences through long form video interviews and social media clips.
