Ukraine Warns North Korean Launchers in Russia Are Targets

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said North Korean missile launchers brought into Russia will become legitimate military targets for Ukrainian forces. Speaking at a press conference in Kyiv, Sybiha warned that Ukraine's military will respond to the deployment of missile systems in Russia.

Sybiha stated that any deployed launchers must be destroyed first and will immediately be targeted. He added that growing cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang creates security risks and poses challenges for the Indo-Pacific region.

Ukraine is in contact with allies including Japan and South Korea regarding the threat, Sybiha noted. He called for stronger diplomatic sanctions, greater isolation of the regime in Pyongyang, and united international pressure to end Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

Intelligence reports on deployment

The statements follow reports by news agency UNIAN citing Ukrainian military intelligence representative Andrii Cherniak. Cherniak noted that a North Korean missile unit began deploying in western Russia, likely equipped with 120 ballistic missiles and six launchers to strike Ukraine.

Earlier reports also indicated that North Korea could send a new batch of 30,000 military personnel to the front line in Ukraine to participate directly in the war.
