Police in Saint Petersburg have detained a pensioner who threw items resembling pistols and ammunition into a pond in Moskovsky Victory Park, according to the Telegram channel Mash on Moika. The man explained that he was trying to dispose of weapons and ammunition left by his deceased father.

Seized weapons and criminal charges

During a search of the pensioner's apartment, officers seized two pistols, 75 cartridges, weapon components, and two cans containing more than 300 grams of smokeless gunpowder, which is classified as a propellant explosive. Authorities opened a criminal case against him for illegal weapons trafficking.

In a separate arms case, Moscow's Dorogomilovsky Court previously sentenced members of a criminal group involved in weapons trading to prison terms ranging from 12 to 15 years.
