The Southern District Military Court sentenced a prison inmate to life imprisonment for passing information about penal service staff to members of the Legion "Freedom of Russia," a court representative said, according to TASS. The organization is officially designated as terrorist and banned in Russia.
How the case unfolded
The court found that the inmate joined the banned organization while already serving time in a penal colony. He gathered and passed to a representative of the terrorist organization data on staff at a correctional facility in Stavropol Krai.
The information concerned employees responsible for selecting convicts willing to take part in the special military operation on Russia's side, as well as details on convicts who had already been sent to the conflict zone.

The report noted that Khadis Azizov, a member of the Pichugin organized crime group who was sentenced to life imprisonment, had earlier tried to sue pretrial detention center SIZO-1 in Syktyvkar over heat in his cell.
