Russia's Dan-T munition combines high speed and low radar visibility to evade modern air defense systems, according to RIA Novosti columnist Andrei Kots.
Writing for the Russian state news agency, Kots reported that the weapon operates at low altitudes while following ground terrain, allowing it to stay hidden from radar stations used by full-scale air defense networks.
He noted that the high speed of the Dan-T also enables the munition to escape interceptor drones and dodge incoming fire from mobile firing units on the ground.
Terrain-following flight technology allows low-flying missiles to travel beneath the line-of-sight radar horizon of conventional surface-to-air missile batteries. Meanwhile, mobile firing groups equipped with light anti-aircraft guns and defensive interceptor drones are typically relied upon to engage low-altitude aerial threats that bypass primary radar coverage.
Full-scale air defense systems typically employ long-range radar networks and heavy anti-aircraft missile batteries to track targets across large airspace sectors.

The Dan-T munition was publicly presented at the El Alamein International Airshow in Egypt, where specifications revealed its capability to strike ground targets at distances of up to 450 kilometers.
Low radar visibility relies on specialized airframe shaping and radar-absorbing materials to reduce the radar cross-section of an aerial vehicle, making detection difficult for defensive search radars.
An operational range of 450 kilometers allows aircraft to conduct standoff strikes, releasing munitions from positions situated outside the target area's immediate point-defense zones.

Earlier in September, Bekkhan Ozdoev, the industrial director of the armaments, ammunition, and special chemistry cluster at Russian state corporation Rostec, stated that the Dan-T represents an entirely new class of weaponry.
Ozdoev explained that the munition features a versatile launch design and can be deployed from a variety of fixed-wing aircraft and rotary-wing helicopters.
Fixed-wing aircraft include military fighters and bombers, while rotary-wing aircraft comprise tactical combat and transport helicopters.
