Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin told TASS that United States actions surrounding the Ukrainian conflict do not align with any desire for peace. He noted that Washington's official position regarding potential negotiations remains contradictory.
Galuzin pointed to remarks made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in June, in which Rubio stated that Washington does not view itself as a neutral mediator. The diplomat contrasted those comments with recent statements from Rubio indicating the United States would attempt to organize negotiations on Ukraine in the coming weeks.
Western Proposals and Negotiations
Galuzin previously stated that Russia has not heard any constructive proposals from Western nations regarding Ukraine. He added that Western officials instead frequently adopt an ultimatum tone during discussions.
