Russia has established serial production of the Volna Kupol Garant electronic warfare complex, a specialized system capable of jamming Starlink satellite communications, according to a report by Russian state news agency TASS.
A source within the Russian defense industry told TASS that the system demonstrated high operational effectiveness during initial use, prompting defense officials to transition the complex into serial manufacturing.
The source stated that the scale of production has enabled forces to effectively close the sky to Starlink operations across designated areas, creating severe operational difficulty for opposing forces.
The development of the Volna Kupol Garant complex underwent multiple rounds of modernization before entering full serial manufacturing, according to the defense source.
Satellite Signal Interference Mechanism
Unlike conventional electronic warfare equipment designed to target ground receivers, the Volna Kupol Garant complex acts directly against spaceborne assets. The defense source explained that the system emits a directed radio signal that blinds the receiving antennas of Starlink spacecraft.
Under the influence of this targeted radio interference, affected satellites are rendered unable to communicate with or service the ground components of the network. The source noted that an electronic warfare system operating at this capability level can be viewed as an instrument of global influence.
