A Reddit user under the username Fancy_Incident5635 revealed her boyfriend had secretly sent $600 each month to his ex-girlfriend instead of his sister.

Reddit user discovers boyfriend sent $600 monthly to ex

Reddit user Fancy_Incident5635 discovered her boyfriend of three years secretly sent $600 every month to his ex-girlfriend while pretending the money helped his sister.

The woman uncovered the deception after bringing up the financial support during a conversation with her partner's sister, who expressed complete confusion over the claim.

According to the post, the author had wished the sister an improvement in her financial situation during their discussion. The sister looked at her with total disbelief and responded that her brother had not provided her with any money for many years.

The realization prompted the author to review their shared living arrangements. The couple had been dating for three years before moving into a rented apartment together, where financial obligations had already caused friction.

Shared expenses and rental deposit

The author noted the irony of learning about the monthly $600 payments. When they initially moved into their home, she was required to cover the entire rental security deposit herself after her boyfriend cited personal money difficulties.

A security deposit is a financial sum paid upfront by tenants to landlords to secure a rental agreement and cover potential property damages. The author stated that she had believed his claims of financial hardship at the time of moving.

She concluded her online post by noting that her boyfriend was expected to return home in about an hour, completely unaware that his secret financial transfers had been discovered.

Online relationship disclosures

The account was shared on Reddit, an online social news aggregator and forum network where registered members submit content and discuss personal relationships. Anonymous posts regarding relationship disputes, shared finances, and domestic betrayals routinely circulate on the site.

The post follows a similar viral account on the platform, where another Reddit user detailed how she took revenge against a former partner who attempted to access and misuse her personal funds.
