CNN reported that White House Correspondents' Association President Jackie Heinrich met with administration officials after journalists traveling in the presidential press pool were left unaware that Trump had been secretly moved to a separate plane.

Members of the press pool had boarded the primary presidential aircraft expecting to fly alongside Trump from the Turkish capital of Ankara. They were shocked to discover that the US president had secretly left the aircraft and departed on a different plane only after seeing reports in the media.
Heinrich said the unexpected maneuver raised urgent questions among press representatives regarding their personal safety. She noted that such actions also affect the ability of journalists to maintain continuous coverage of presidential movements and provide authentic, accurate information to the public.
The head of the correspondents' association stated that she held a productive meeting with the Trump administration regarding these concerns. Heinrich specified that she asked officials to collaborate with journalists to establish a dedicated protocol for managing emergency security circumstances in the future.

Democrats in the United States Congress expressed anger over the secret transfer operation in Ankara, describing the situation as a farce.
US secret services carried out the covert evacuation on August 11, moving Trump from his primary airliner onto a military aircraft. Trump had initially boarded the double-deck Air Force One before news media cameras prior to departure.
Just minutes after boarding, security personnel secretly transferred the US leader to a smaller plane using an airport catering truck designed for loading inflight meals. Security officials attributed the secret evacuation to an assassination threat originating from Iran.
