Practical Magic 2, starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, leads a run of new film premieres opening in cinemas this week, alongside documentaries on the band Oasis and footballer Diego Maradona, and a new Greek feature, Kokoras.
The sequel returns almost 30 years after the original Practical Magic first premiered in cinemas in 1998, bringing Bullock and Kidman back together as the Owens sisters. The week's slate also includes the French drama Dossier 137, the South Korean thriller Hope, and two English-language genre films, Onslaught and At All Costs.
Practical Magic 2 reunites the Owens sisters
Directed by Susanne Bier from a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman, Georgia Pritchett and Kelly Marcel, with music by Rupert Gregson-Williams, Practical Magic 2 stars Sandra Bullock, Nicole Kidman, Joey King, Maisie Williams, Solo McLeod, Xolo Maridueña, Lee Pace, Dianne Wiest, Stockard Channing, Cassie Bradley and Liz Kingsman. The film runs 130 minutes, was made in the United States in 2026, and is distributed by Tanweer. In it, the Owens sisters reunite to face a dark curse that threatens to tear their family apart.
Oasis documentary tracks the 2025 reunion tour
Oasis: Don't Look Back in Anger, directed by Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern with a script by Steven Knight, follows Liam and Noel Gallagher on their Oasis Live '25 reunion tour. Running 122 minutes, the British film was made in 2026 and is distributed by Feelgood Entertainment. The documentary includes access to rehearsals, backstage and onstage footage, and the first joint interviews Noel and Liam have given in more than 20 years. It also explores the emotional impact of the tour, which sold out immediately, on fans around the world.
The Match revisits the 1986 World Cup
The Match, directed by Juan Cabral and Santiago Franco and written by Andrés Burgo, with music by Nicolás Barry and Tomás Yacobi, returns to the Argentina-England match at the 1986 World Cup, forty years on. It features Gary Lineker, Jorge Valdano, Peter Shilton, John Barnes, Oscar Ruggeri, Jorge Burruchaga, Ricardo Giusti and Julio Olarticoechea. The 91-minute Argentine film, in Spanish and English, was made in 2026 and is distributed by Rosebud21. It traces the history between the two countries, including the wounds of the Falklands War, to explain how the match became more than a game.
Kokoras follows a father's summer of decisions
The Greek film Kokoras, directed by Tasos Gerakinis and co-written with Katerina Papanastasatou, with music by Giannis Plastiras, stars Nikos Kasapis, Kora Karvouni, Dimitris Katalifos, Eleni Kokkidou, Giannis Sarakatsanis and Youlika Skafida. Running 101 minutes, it was made in Greece in 2025 and is distributed by TFG. The story follows Argyris, a caretaker for the Municipality of Athens, whose son is selected by lottery to attend one of the country's best private schools. The news unsettles his already difficult marriage to Popi, also a municipal employee, and though the school is financially out of reach for the family, Argyris decides he will not stand in the way of what he sees as his son's destiny.
Dossier 137 examines a police shooting in Paris
Dossier 137, directed by Dominik Moll and co-written with Gilles Marchand, with music by Olivier Marguerit, stars Léa Drucker, Jonathan Turnbull, Mathilde Reris, Guslagie Malanda, Stanislas Merhar, Sandra Colombo, Valentin Campan, Mathilde Riou, Théo Costa-Marini, Antonia Buresi, Geneviève Mnich and Christian Sinniger. The 136-minute French film was made in 2025 and is distributed by Rosebud21. Set in Paris in December 2018 during the Yellow Vest protests, it follows Stéphanie, an officer with the police's internal affairs unit, investigating the severe injury of a 20-year-old protester shot near the Champs-Élysées. As interrogations mount and video footage is analysed frame by frame, she meets a wall of silence from the victim's suspicious family and the riot units she is investigating, forcing her to confront whether truth can be uncovered without cost when the system under scrutiny is the one she serves.
Onslaught, At All Costs and Hope also open
Onslaught, directed by Adam Wingard and written by Simon Barrett with music by Matthew Pusti, stars Adria Arjona, Dan Stevens, Alex Pereira, Eric Wareheim, Reginald VelJohnson, Michael Biehn, Drew Starkey, Rebecca Hall, Morris Green, Sarah Minnich, Blake Kennedy, Jasper Keen, Abby Townsend, L.C. Holt and Jacob Scipio. Running 92 minutes and made in the United States in 2026, it is distributed by Spentzos Films. It follows a servicewoman and sniper who must fight to protect her young daughter after a ruthless squad of genetically modified super-soldiers breaks loose in the desert.
At All Costs, directed by Elegance Bratton and written by Sasha Penn with music by Bonnie Greenberg, stars Mark Wahlberg, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Beharie, Josh Lucas, David Strathairn and Giancarlo Esposito. The 107-minute American film, also released in 2026, is distributed by Spentzos Films. It follows a notorious mafia hitman and a young FBI agent who team up to investigate the murders of civil rights leaders in Mississippi in 1966.
Hope, directed and written by Na Hong-jin with music by Michael Abels, stars Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung, Hoyeon, Alicia Vikander, Michael Fassbender, Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Lee Sang-hee, Eom Moon-seok, Im Hyun-sik and Hwang Seok-jong. The 160-minute South Korean film, in Korean and English with Greek subtitles, was made in 2026 and is distributed by Cinobo. It follows the residents of a small town who must defend their community against a mysterious creature after wildfires cut off communication with the outside world, as a local police commander and her deputy fight to stop the killing and a group of hunters tracking the beast ends up becoming its prey.
