Plus500 has reported its highest first-half revenues in three years, boosted by a booming prediction markets business.

The FTSE 250-listed trading platform moved into the fast-growing prediction markets sector in February. The sector allows clients to bet on the outcome of real-world events such as elections.

The group then launched its sports prediction markets offering at the end of June, just as the World Cup got into full swing. Plus500 hopes the sector will become a main growth driver.
