The opening figure represents a slight increase compared to the close of the previous trading session, when the central bank recorded the exchange rate at S/3.3440 per dollar.

Peru uses the sol as its official currency, with the Central Reserve Bank of Peru operating as the sovereign monetary authority responsible for setting daily benchmark exchange rates and overseeing currency stability.

Commercial bank exchange rates

Commercial financial institutions across Peru listed varying buy and sell rates for the greenback on Sunday. Banco de Crédito del Perú posted a purchase rate of S/3.525 and a sale rate of S/3.540, while Interbank quoted buying at S/3.493 and selling at S/3.576.

State-owned Banco de la Nación set its purchase price at S/3.480 and its selling price at S/3.600. Spanish multinational lender BBVA recorded buying rates at S/3.468 and selling rates at S/3.608, while Scotiabank offered purchase at S/3.519 and sale at S/3.558.

In the informal parallel market, retail currency exchange booths and tracking website cuantoestaeldolar.pe monitored street trading values. The parallel market allows individuals and businesses to exchange physical banknotes outside formal commercial banking hours.

Tax authority and financial data rates

Official exchange values registered by the National Superintendency of Customs and Tax Administration, known as Sunat, stood at S/3.348 for purchase and S/3.356 for sale on Saturday, August 29.

Sunat serves as Peru's state tax and customs authority, providing official benchmark exchange rates used by corporate taxpayers for financial reporting, customs tariffs, and tax compliance.

Financial data service Bloomberg recorded an opening exchange rate of S/3.3568 per dollar on Saturday, August 29. Consumer guidance was also issued regarding methods to verify genuine dollar banknotes and spot counterfeit currency.

Government fiscal and labor proposals

The executive branch of Peru has presented its proposed national budget for fiscal year 2027, totaling S/266,506 million. The budget proposal reduces allocations for public healthcare, national security, and sanitation services.

The government has also requested legislative powers from parliament to amend national labor regulations. Proposed modifications could affect employee vacation entitlements, mandatory biannual bonus payments, and statutory severance savings accounts.

Under Peruvian labor legislation, statutory severance funds, known as Compensación por Tiempo de Servicios or CTS, are employer-funded accounts designed to provide financial security for workers upon job termination.
