Oksana Samoylova Moves to Restrict Rapper Dzhigan's Rights

Russian blogger Oksana Samoylova is seeking to restrict the parental rights of her former husband, rapper Dzhigan, while he stays in a rehabilitation clinic.

Her legal representatives, Marina Dubrovskaya and Irina Kuznetsova, confirmed that Samoylova wants the restriction to remain in place for six months during his treatment.

In comments reported by the Shot channel on Telegram, the lawyers stated that Samoylova chose temporary restriction over complete termination. They said she logically hopes Dzhigan can have his parental rights restored in the future if doing so is safe for the children.

The lawyers also stated that they do not know whether Dzhigan is currently in contact with the children.

Lawsuit and Public Comments

The legal dispute emerged on October 3, when news broke that Samoylova had officially filed a lawsuit against her former husband seeking the restriction of his parental rights.

Following the court filing, lawyer Irina Kalinina noted that the blogger has a strong chance of achieving her objective in the case.

The move followed a public statement by Samoylova after an interview with television journalist Ksenia Sobchak about life with the musician. In that statement, Samoylova admitted that she no longer wished to discuss certain topics connected to her former husband.

Sobchak is a well-known media figure in Russia whose long-form digital interviews regularly focus on the personal lives and controversies of high-profile cultural personalities.

Family Background and Custody Rules

Dzhigan, whose real name is Denis Ustimenko-Vainshtein, is a popular Ukrainian-born Russian hip-hop artist, while Samoylova is an established lifestyle blogger and businesswoman with extensive commercial ventures. The pair married in December 2012 and share four children, three daughters and a son, frequently documenting their family life for millions of followers across social media platforms.

Under the Russian Family Code, the restriction of parental rights functions as an interim protective measure rather than a permanent deprivation of parental authority. The procedure temporarily transfers custody away from a parent without entirely severing the legal parent-child relationship. Russian courts frequently apply this intermediate measure in situations where a parent is undergoing inpatient medical care, addressing substance dependency, or working through personal crises that could compromise child safety.

The six-month restriction gives the affected parent time to complete therapeutic programs and establish stability. Once the set term concludes, the court reviews the case and evaluates whether the grounds for the restriction have ceased. If the parent demonstrates sustained recovery and shows that reuniting with the children poses no danger, the court can cancel the restriction and restore full parental rights.
