PASOK president Nikos Androulakis visited an emergency animal care station set up at Megara Municipal Stadium during a tour of fire-affected areas in West Attica.
Mayor of Megara Panagiotis Margetis welcomed the opposition leader alongside volunteers from animal welfare groups Dog's Voice, the Megara Animal Welfare Association (ZEM), and Stray Pulse.
Animal rescue efforts
According to a PASOK press release, hundreds of domestic and stray dogs have been rescued from the fire fronts. The animals are receiving care at the stadium until they can be safely returned to their owners or adopted.
Androulakis thanked the volunteers for ensuring no creature is left helpless during natural disasters. He stated that it is now a collective duty to support their work and form another link in the chain of solidarity to care for and house rescued animals.
