Leaders of the Modern Revolutionary Party presented the Hablemos PRM initiative on Sunday, proposing internal party renewal, unity, and closer ties with citizens. The project aims to strengthen the organization through structural reforms and increased community participation across the Dominican Republic.
The proposal emerged after several months of nationwide tours, assemblies, and meetings conducted by party leaders, legislators, and officials across various provinces. Organizers gathered input, criticisms, and proposals from neighborhood boards, community leaders, sports clubs, social organizations, and party militants.
The national consultation process concluded in San Cristóbal, where participants reaffirmed the importance of preserving internal party unity and expanding community presence. Promoters stressed that the future of the organization depends on maintaining permanent dialogue with citizens, interpreting societal changes, and translating public demands into policy proposals.
Consultation Proposals and Leadership Calls
The presented document outlines key proposals to renew party structures and enhance internal participation. It emphasizes expanding representation for women and youth, improving communication with grassroots members, and ensuring political decisions respond to the current social, economic, and technological realities of the country.
During the presentation, Industry and Commerce Minister Eduardo "Yayo" Sanz Lovatón called on members to place collective interests above individual aspirations to strengthen the organization. Gloria Reyes stated that the consultation process turned feedback into concrete commitments to improve relationships between party leadership, members, and local communities. Reyes highlighted the need to preserve internal cohesion, update party mechanisms, and broaden opportunities for youth and women.
The initiative was promoted by national and local leaders, including Dío Astacio, Príamo Ramírez, Alex Díaz, Agustín Burgos, Benny Metz, Francis Almonte, Wellington Grullón, Rosa Mejía, Pedro Catrín, Monserrat Santana, Julio Peña, Wally Lewis, Ignacio Aracena, and Augusto Velázquez.
Party Submission and Upcoming Selection
Organizers submitted the document to the leadership of the Modern Revolutionary Party and made it available to Dominican society as a contribution to institutional debate. In related party developments, the organization reported holding assemblies across 379 party bodies and announced that it will select its new authorities by acclamation on August 9.
