Miltos Tentoglou of Greece won gold in the long jump at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham, earning his fourth title in a row.

Miltos Tentoglou wins fourth European long jump gold

Greek champion Miltos Tentoglou won the outdoor long jump gold medal at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham to secure his fourth consecutive title. Tentoglou took first place with a winning jump of 8.44 meters on his fourth attempt, keeping him undefeated in the tournament since 2018.

The athlete opened the final with an 8.27-meter jump, recorded 8.19 meters on his second attempt, and reached 8.27 meters again on his third attempt before delivering the evening's top mark. His victory in Birmingham adds to his previous outdoor European titles won in Berlin, Munich, and Rome.

Prime Minister congratulations

Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis congratulated Tentoglou in a post on X on August 11, 2026. Writing under the account Prime Minister GR (@PrimeministerGR), Mitsotakis stated that Tentoglou was a permanent resident of the top after winning gold at the European Championship, praised him once again, and encouraged him to keep moving forward.
