A portable air conditioner has sold out on the Lidl website during a heatwave, with the retailer listing the appliance for 209.99 euros.
Shoppers looking for the unit will now have to check physical Lidl stores to find remaining stock. The company's website allows customers to request an alert when more units become available.
Portable air conditioners offer a specific advantage for renters. They can be installed without building work and can accompany a tenant when they move. The appliances must expel hot air outside through a tube and take up more floor space than a standard fan.
Cooling and capacity
The Lidl appliance has a cooling capacity of 2.64 kilowatts, an energy class A rating and a nominal power of 1,010 watts. The manufacturer recommends using the unit in rooms of between 42 and 60 cubic metres. Users must keep 50 centimetres of clear space around the machine.
The manual confirms the appliance has three functions: cooling, ventilation and dehumidification. The dehumidifier can remove up to 1.75 litres of water per hour under testing conditions.
Noise and dimensions
The air conditioner weighs 24 kilograms and includes a 1.5-metre exhaust hose. It has wheels to make moving it easier, although its size means it requires a dedicated space in a room.
The machine produces 65 decibels of noise. The compressor is located inside the room, making it more audible than a split-system air conditioner. This noise level may limit its appeal in a bedroom for light sleepers, though it could be more acceptable in a small office or living room.
Previous promotion
The current sales page shows a higher price than a previous offer. On May 25, 2026, the technology website Xataka Home reported the air conditioner cost 199.99 euros. That earlier promotion also described the machine as having 1,750 frigories and connecting to the Lidl Home application.
To cool a small room effectively when a split system is too expensive or prohibited by a landlord, users should calculate the room's volume carefully. They must close doors and windows and ensure the exhaust tube is sealed tightly to the outside. Mechanical cooling is most effective when the street temperature remains high or the home accumulates heat over several hours.
