Multinational technology company Lenovo has unveiled its new Legion C700 handheld console in China, positioning the portable device specifically for cloud gaming.
The console operates on Google's Android 16 mobile operating system and supports game streaming through Tencent Start. Tencent Start is a cloud gaming platform operated by Chinese technology conglomerate Tencent, allowing players to stream video games from remote servers over an internet connection rather than processing them locally. At present, Lenovo has released the handheld exclusively for the Chinese market.
The model equipped with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of built-in storage carries a promotional price tag of 1,499 yuan, which converts to approximately $225. Pre-orders for the device will open in China on September 8, though Lenovo has not announced any release schedule for international markets.
Display and processor specifications
The Legion C700 features a 7.82-inch IPS display offering a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels alongside a 120 Hz refresh rate. In-plane switching technology provides wide viewing angles and accurate color representation, while the high refresh rate updates the screen image 120 times per second to deliver smoother motion during gameplay.
Internal operations are driven by a 4-nanometer MediaTek Dimensity 7400 processor. MediaTek, a major semiconductor manufacturer headquartered in Taiwan, designs the Dimensity chip series for high-efficiency mobile computing. The 4-nanometer production process allows engineers to package more transistors onto the chip, boosting computational speed while reducing power consumption.
To maintain stable performance under heavy processing loads, Lenovo included an internal active cooling system consisting of a small fan and a radiator heatsink to dissipate heat away from the processor.
Controls and physical design
Power for the handheld is supplied by an 8,000 mAh battery intended to support extended gaming sessions. The device weighs 556 grams and measures 293 mm in length, 117 mm in width and 15 mm in thickness.
For user input, the device features TMR joysticks, Hall effect triggers and customizable macro buttons. Traditional game controllers often suffer from stick drift over time as mechanical electrical contacts wear down. In contrast, tunnel magnetoresistance joysticks and Hall effect sensors utilize contactless magnetic fields to detect input movements, eliminating friction points and extending component durability.
Broader Lenovo gaming ecosystem
Lenovo, headquartered in Beijing and Hong Kong, is one of the world's largest personal computer vendors. The company created its Legion line to serve the gaming hardware market, expanding the brand from desktop towers and laptops into dedicated handheld gaming devices.
The announcement of the Legion C700 comes alongside several recent hardware introductions by Lenovo targeting mobile gamers. The company recently announced a compact 5G-enabled gaming tablet designed for high-speed wireless connectivity on the go.
Lenovo also launched the Tab Plus Gen 2, a multimedia tablet featuring built-in artificial intelligence functionality and nine integrated speakers developed by audio equipment manufacturer JBL.
