Russian actress and television presenter Larisa Guzeeva has fired her new housekeeper after just one day of work following an accidental phone call that exposed the worker insulting her.
The housekeeper was hired on the recommendation of mutual acquaintances to clean Guzeeva's apartment while the television host was away from home.
According to details published by the Telegram channel Lotus Media, the situation unfolded when the housekeeper inadvertently pocket dialed Guzeeva during her shift.
Guzeeva said that when she answered the call, there was no greeting or response from the other end of the line. Instead, the open connection allowed her to listen in as the housekeeper spoke disparagingly about her. Guzeeva admitted that hearing the comments left her terrified and crying.
Accidental phone call leads to dismissal
Despite the distressing incident, Guzeeva confirmed that she still paid the housekeeper the full amount previously agreed upon for her work. She noted that the payment was a very substantial sum.
After receiving her payment and being let go, the housekeeper sent Guzeeva a text message attempting to apologize, though the message contained only a single word.
Career on Russian television
Guzeeva is one of the most recognizable personalities on Russian television, widely known for hosting the romance and matchmaking show Let's Get Married! on Channel One, a program she has led for over a decade. She initially achieved national fame as a film actress, starring in Eldar Ryazanov's acclaimed 1984 period drama A Cruel Romance, and was named a Merited Artist of the Russian Federation in 1994.
Lotus Media, the outlet reporting her comments, is a news channel operating on Telegram, a cloud based instant messaging application that serves as a primary source for breaking news, media reports, and public channels in Russia.
Rescuing an abandoned pet
The episode with the housekeeper comes shortly after Guzeeva shared another emotional experience with her followers regarding an animal rescue while traveling abroad.
Guzeeva previously revealed that she broke down in tears after discovering an abandoned puppy left on the street in another country. Expressing outrage at the people who discarded the dog, she stated that she intended to take charge of the animal and secure new owners to care for it.
