Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with investors in Silicon Valley during a closed discussion hosted by venture capital firm General Catalyst to discuss new investment opportunities in Greece.
The meeting brought Greece into the investment focus of major Silicon Valley figures, gathering venture investors, founders of fast growing technology companies, and senior innovation executives.
General Catalyst, which organized the round table, manages more than $43 billion in assets and holds a portfolio of over 900 companies. Its investment portfolio includes artificial intelligence developer Anthropic, financial software firm Stripe, defense technology company Anduril, and AI startup Mistral AI.
The agenda between Mitsotakis and the firm focused on expanding international technology investments in Greece, supporting domestic startups, and advancing artificial intelligence initiatives across the country.
Investment Prospects and Innovation Ecosystem
Mitsotakis held detailed talks with Alexis Black Björlin, the Chief Strategy Officer of General Catalyst, to examine further investment prospects in Greece. The two discussed the growth dynamics of the Greek innovation ecosystem and outlined national priorities in technology and artificial intelligence.
Special emphasis was placed on creating favorable conditions capable of attracting international tech companies and institutional investment to Greece.
Startup Growth and Digital Infrastructure
The discussions also addressed plans to strengthen Greek startups and help them expand into international markets. Mitsotakis and business leaders examined ways to better utilize Greek scientific and business talent both at home and abroad.
A dedicated part of the session focused on developments in artificial intelligence and the broader opportunities available for Greece and Europe in digital infrastructure, scientific research, and technological development.
Meeting With San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie
Earlier in his visit, Mitsotakis met with the Mayor of San Francisco, Daniel Lurie, for talks centered on urban management and technology. The discussion focused on how innovation and technological solutions can address the key infrastructure and operational challenges facing modern metropolises.
