Kylie Jenner has defended her title as the youngest self-made billionaire, insisting that none of her wealth was inherited from her famous family.
Speaking in an interview with Who What Wear published on August 27, the 29-year-old reality television star and beauty mogul argued that her financial earnings remain entirely her own work, even while acknowledging her initial privilege.
"None of the money I've ever made is inherited, so it's technically true," Jenner said during the interview, "but people just feel like the privilege I've had was a major stepping stone."
Forbes magazine first dubbed Jenner the youngest self-made billionaire seven years ago following the commercial success of her makeup venture, Kylie Cosmetics. The title sparked public debate over the definition of self-made status when applied to a member of the prominent Kardashian-Jenner family.
Jenner previously defended the description in a 2019 interview with Interview Germany, asserting that she falls squarely under that category. She noted at the time that her parents, Kris Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner, stopped providing her with financial support when she was 15 years old, two years before she launched her beauty label.
"I am a special case because before I started Kylie Cosmetics, I had a huge platform and lots of fans," Jenner said in 2019. "I used 100 percent of my own money to start the company. Not a dime in my bank account is inherited, and I am very proud of that."
Focus on Kylie Cosmetics
In her recent profile, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star named Kylie Cosmetics as the single venture she cares about the most. She explained that she learned a great deal from running the business and expressed gratitude for its continued success.
"If I had to choose - you can just do one thing - it would be Kylie Cosmetics because it's just such a real passion," Jenner shared.
Jenner is a mother to two children, eight-year-old daughter Stormi and four-year-old son Aire, shared with her former partner, rapper Travis Scott.
Reflecting on Early Success
Reflecting on the vast wealth and public attention she experienced after being named a billionaire, Jenner admitted that her perspective on her early lifestyle has changed over time. She recalled buying a high-end property in Beverly Hills during the early stages of her career before deciding to scale back.
"When I was younger, I got really excited, and I got the craziest house I could in Beverly Hills, and I just kind of went for it," Jenner recalled. "I've realized that my life got too big, and I said, 'Yeah, never mind.'"
She added that she felt she lost control of her life for a period during that intense era of rapid commercial growth and media scrutiny.
