Kamchatka was left without mobile and home internet for four days after erosion damaged a fiber-optic cable line, Telegram channel Amur Mash reported. A section of the cable connecting the Russian region to external networks was washed away at Cape Levashov.
Crews are currently reinforcing the cable, leaving residents without mobile and home internet. Voice calls and SMS text messages remain available on the peninsula.
Banks, hospitals, emergency services, and major retail chains continue operating as normal.
Russians were previously warned about potential disruptions in the operation of Visa and Mastercard payment system cards due to a transition to Russian security certificates.
