Actress Jennifer Aniston has revealed the poignant life advice she received from her late friend and collaborator Dolly Parton during a public appearance in New York on Wednesday, September 2.
Speaking at an event marking the release of a new book by her partner Jim Curtis, titled The Book of Possibility, Aniston recalled the words of wisdom handed down by the country music legend, who died on August 25 at the age of 80 following a short battle with cancer.
When asked about the best advice she could share with others, the actress remembered Parton telling her that she had chased some rainbows, caught some, and then caught a few more. Aniston encouraged those in attendance to follow that guidance by chasing their own dreams and catching a few rainbows of their own.
Collaborating on Dumplin'
Aniston described Parton as a beloved friend following their work together on the 2018 musical comedy-drama film Dumplin'. In the movie, Australian actress Danielle Macdonald starred as a pageant-obsessed teenager who did not feel comfortable in her surroundings and decided to enter a local beauty contest as a protest.
Aniston, an Emmy Award winning actress best known for her role as Rachel Green on the television sitcom Friends, portrayed the teenager's mother, a former beauty pageant winner who struggled to connect with her daughter.
Parton created original music for the soundtrack of the film. Alongside songwriter and producer Linda Perry, the country icon recorded the feature track Girl in the Movies, which went on to earn nominations at both the Grammy Awards and the Golden Globe Awards.
Private Farewell in Nashville
Parton's death on August 25 prompted widespread tributes across the entertainment industry. Her family held a private funeral service in Nashville on Sunday, August 30, to say their final goodbyes to the singer.
A cousin of Parton revealed following the service that the star had requested a small and quiet burial. The family honored those wishes during the private gathering in Tennessee.
Parton was one of country music's most celebrated figures, famous for hits such as Jolene and 9 to 5. Aniston noted that the late icon's words of wisdom remain central to her daily life.
