Iran will target the interests of any country assisting the United States in its economic war against Tehran, top Iranian security official Mohsen Rezaei declared on Saturday.

Speaking on Iranian state television, Rezaei stated that every nation participating in the implementation of economic restrictions against Iran is considered an enemy by Tehran.

Rezaei urged all surrounding regional countries and nations worldwide to refrain from joining the economic war conducted by the United States. His warning followed an announcement from Washington regarding a reinforcement of economic sanctions designed to increase financial pressure on the Iranian government.

Iranian Security Council

Rezaei serves as the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, the primary government body tasked with determining national defense, intelligence, and security policy. The council operates under the direction of Iran's supreme leader and coordinates strategy across the country's military and political institutions.

Before his appointment to the security council, Rezaei spent decades in senior political and military roles in Tehran, including leading the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. He has long been a prominent voice on Iranian strategic defense and foreign relations.

US Sanctions and Pressure

The United States has increasingly relied on broad economic sanctions, banking restrictions, and trade penalties to isolate Iran's economy and curtail its strategic programs. Washington's measures target key sectors including foreign financial transactions, shipping, and energy exports.

American sanctions often carry secondary sanctions, which penalize foreign institutions, international banks, and third party countries that continue doing business with targeted Iranian entities. Rezaei's address was aimed directly at third party governments considering compliance with these American measures.

State Television Address
The official announcement was broadcast across Iran through state media outlets, which serve as the primary official channel for public statements by Iranian military and political leadership. Broadcasts of council declarations are routinely monitored by international observers for shifts in Iran's security stance.

Tehran maintains that international compliance with Washington's punitive sanctions constitutes participation in active economic warfare, establishing a direct conflict with Iranian national interests.
