Insurers Begin Damage Assessments in Landes Disaster Zone

Insurers in the Landes region of France have begun assessing damage at private properties in areas hit by disaster, though the full extent of losses remains difficult to calculate.

A TF1 crew followed one of the first assessments to take place in Biscarrosse. Across the affected zone, 450 homes have been destroyed.

Among those affected is Yannick, who bought a 160-square-metre house on the edge of a forest ten years ago. The property burned down about a week ago. It could take many long months, or even years, before he is able to return to his home, according to the report.
