The French government has officially renewed the Pass'Sport financial assistance scheme for the 2026-2027 academic year, setting the grant at a reduced rate of 50 euros per beneficiary.
A decree extending the sports allowance program was published in the Official Journal on Friday, August 28, 2026. The new regulation confirms that the state subsidy per person has been revised downwards compared to previous years.
The financial support applies only to sports club registrations completed between September 1 and December 31, 2026. The decree stated that the assistance takes the form of a state reimbursement for a 50 euro reduction offered by sports organizations and associations on annual membership or license fees.
Expanded eligibility for young children
Although the grant amount is lower, the government has broadened the eligible age groups for the 2026-2027 school year. In contrast to 2025, when the program focused on teenagers, the renewed grant now covers younger children as well as older students and disabled individuals.
Children aged six to 17 inclusive are eligible between August 1, 2026, and December 31, 2026, provided they belong to a household with a family quotient of 699 euros or less. That financial threshold is determined by the National Family Allowance Fund (CNAF) or the Central Fund of Social Agricultural Mutuals (CCMSA), the two primary bodies managing state family benefits in France.
The subsidy is also available to individuals aged six to 30 who have a disability and receive state financial aid. Eligible recipients must draw either the Education Allowance for Disabled Children (AEEH), which supports families raising disabled minors, or the Adult Disability Allowance (AAH), which provides income support to adults with disabilities.
Higher education students up to 28 years of age can also claim the funding. Eligible applicants include students receiving state-funded means-tested scholarships, initial health and social care training grants, or annual aid managed by the regional centres for university and school works, known as CROUS.
Digital codes and political debate
The decree explained that eligible individuals will receive an automatically generated unique code sent directly to them. Beneficiaries can then present this code when signing up at a participating sports facility to receive the immediate 50 euro fee discount.
The government decision follows broader debate over public funding for sports following major athletic events in France. Around 100 elected officials recently signed an appeal demanding the return of the Pass'Sport for children aged six to 13, arguing that the country's Olympic legacy was coming under pressure.
