Diane von Furstenberg Poses Filter-Free in Bodysuit at 79

Fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg posed filter-free in a bodysuit and facial mask on Thursday, September 10, to showcase her preparation for New York Fashion Week.

The 79-year-old designer shared a mirror selfie on Instagram, captioning the picture that she was getting ready for the fashion event, noting her age without digital filters, and telling her audience to accept it.

Preparation for Fashion Week

In the social media update, von Furstenberg stood before a mirror wearing a facial mask alongside a bodysuit. Her post offered fans a behind-the-scenes look at her skincare routine ahead of New York Fashion Week, one of the premier semi-annual gatherings in the global fashion calendar where luxury brands display their latest collections.

The designer has frequently used her platform to highlight unedited images and embrace natural aging. In August 2022, she previously shared a social media photo posing in a red swimsuit at age 75, and in July 2025 she documented her summer travels across the Greek islands of Spetses, Sifnos, Nisyros, and Kos.

Stance on Aging and Cosmetic Surgery

Von Furstenberg has spoken publicly on multiple occasions regarding her personal relationship with her image and the physical aging process. She previously revealed that a severe accident altered her perspective on cosmetic procedures.

In 2017, the designer broke her nose during a skiing accident. Speaking to the New York Daily News after the incident, she explained that if she had ever considered plastic surgery, that week convinced her never to undergo it, adding that she was terrified of losing her original facial appearance.

Addressing her natural appearance in a separate conversation with Page Six, von Furstenberg reflected on her facial features and noted that her cheekbones remained her best feature.

Career and Industry Influence

Born in Belgium, von Furstenberg gained international prominence in the 1970s after introducing her signature jersey wrap dress, a design that became a symbol of women's liberation and professional style. She subsequently established her global luxury lifestyle brand, DVF.

Over her decades-long career, she served as president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, advocating for body positivity, healthy standards for runway models, and female empowerment across the fashion industry. Her latest social media message continues her long-standing emphasis on self-acceptance and authenticity.
