CNN news anchor Sarah Sidner has revealed she endured 15 days of torment after being mistakenly diagnosed with stage four cancer following a routine scan.
The television presenter, who successfully beat breast cancer in 2024, said a recent routine medical examination initially indicated that her illness had returned and reached stage four.
As reported by media outlet Deadline, Sidner explained that the scan results appeared to show metastases spreading to her hip, spine, liver, and lungs.
She added that she wept upon receiving the devastating diagnosis and immediately shared the news with her family and loved ones.
Confirmation of clear test results
To verify the initial scan, Sidner subsequently underwent a blood test and a biopsy, a medical procedure in which tissue samples are removed and analyzed to detect cancer cells.
The results of the follow-up tests revealed that she did not have cancer. Describing her emotional reaction, Sidner said she felt a lump in her throat from swelling tears and took a deep, relief-filled breath.
She noted, however, that while waiting for the results of the second round of tests, she suffered 15 days of torment and was left inconsolable.
Sidner is a prominent American news anchor for CNN, the cable news network based in Atlanta, Georgia. Stage four cancer, also known as metastatic cancer, is an advanced stage where malignant cells spread from the original tumor to distant organs and bones.

Earlier, Russian television presenter and singer Maria Gladkikh, who was diagnosed with a malignant skin condition, expressed shock over how online followers reacted to her health update.
According to Gladkikh, several social media users responded to her announcement by advising her to visit doctors less often.
